Halloween has officially made it into the boys reading nook and bedtime routine!!

There are few things I love more than our nighttime routine with the kiddos. Of course, like everyone, we have those nights when the kids are cranky, we’re cranky and it’s a fight to get the boys to bed, but for the most part we have smooth nighttime routines most nights and they always end with reading a book or three…

I built these floating ledge shelves in my oldest son’s room when I was pregnant with him for the sole purpose of housing his books. I have started collecting seasonal kids’ books and at the beginning of each season I transform this little corner of my son's room into a reading nook with all the books of the season. From now through Halloween these are the books we’re going to rotate through reading at night! My kids are still a bit too young to fully understand the concept of Halloween and that these books are related to Halloween, but it makes it a little more fun for my husband and I and helps us get into any holiday spirit, plus it makes a cute little decorated corner of the house for any season!!

I hope that as my kids get older, they think back on this little tradition and remember the simple things, the little family moments and that this helps them have a positive relationship with books and reading!
