The Best Ever Baked Buffalo Wings!

Appetizers are by far my favorite foods, I could eat different kinds of apps for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The perfect days for a spread of appetizers and snacky foods in my opinion are Football Saturday and Sundays in the fall! Typically, when Michigan State is playing on Saturday, or the Browns are playing on Sundays I will make our family breakfast in the morning and then in the afternoon we have a smorgasbord of apps to snack on during football in the afternoon.

These wings are a staple on game days, holiday parties, etc. They are so easy to make, takes a little bit of time with boiling the wings and then baking them, but the time is so worth it because they are just that good! I could eat an entire pound of these wings in a sitting and I’m typically not a huge fan of wings. Because you boil them first and then bake them, they end up just falling off the bone and they get a little bit of crispiness in the oven, and they are so yummy!

I tend to keep a couple bags of frozen winglets in our garage freeze at all times because these are great to bring to a party, a potluck, or to wipe up for a quick weeknight dinner.

The Best Ever Baked Buffalo Wings:

Ingredients:

(1) 3lbs bag frozen winglets

For the Sauce:

1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)
1/2 - 3/4 cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
2 T. lemon juice
1 tsp. tabasco
1/2 tsp. basil
.6 oz package dried Italian seasoning

Directions:

  1. In a large saucepan filled with water, place the frozen winglets. Turn burner onto high and bring water to a boil. Once boiling, let cook for about 30 minutes.

  2. While winglets are cooking, in a large microwave safe bowl, melt the butter. Add in the Frank’s Red Hot, Lemon Juice, Tabascco, Basil and Italian Seasoning. Stir with a whisk to combine all ingredients.

  3. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  4. Once the winglets are cooked all the way through, drain the water, and dump wings into the bowl with the sauce. Make sure all the winglets ar fully covered with the sauce.

  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (will prevent wings from sticking to the pan and make clean up easier!)

  6. Place the winglets on the baking sheet, evenly spaced. Dump remaining sauce from the bowl over the wings if you want them more saucy.

  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Flip the wings over and bake for another 15-20 minutes. I tend to bake mine for at least 20 minutes on each side to get a bit of crisp on them.

  8. Pull out of the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then dig in!

These are also great leftover the next day. Heat back up in the oven or the air fryer for a yummy snack!

The sauce has so much flavor, I have also marinated chicken breasts in this sauce, baked in the oven and served over rice or coleslaw and that makes a great yummy and easy weeknight dinner!
